Auquiscocha Lagoon






















Description
The Auquiscocha lagoon is located at the upper head of the valley of the river of the same name, its origin is glacial, elongated in shape whose longest length is 1500 m and the shortest is 700 m; It is located at the foot of another lagoon called Chequiacocha: which is at the foot of the snow-capped mountains Chequiaraju and Rajopaquinan.
The lagoon occupies a pronounced rocky depression, whose slopes of the lagoon contour and upper slopes are made up of intrusive rocks, almost continuously and with pronounced slopes of 30° to sub-vertical. Only the part behind the lagoon drainage is made up of the frontal moraine that contains the Chequiacocha lagoon.

Tour Plan
After the pick up at the hotel, we will be transferred by vehicle from Huaraz to the Carhuaz highway until we reach the Catay bridge crossing.
From this point the steep walk to the lagoon begins for approximately 3 to 4 hours at a calm pace depending on the pace.
Once in the lagoon we will stay there long enough to rest, take some photos and eat something.
Then we will return to Cebollapampa and then return to Huaraz.
